Arrival
Tan Son Nhat Airport is the main airport. The airport is located in Tan Binh District, over 7 km south of the city center. You are advised to change some Vietnamese money at the Bank of Vietnam Airport Service in the Terminal Building. So as to be able to pay for taxi and other minor costs. Then you may easily get a taxi at the taxi stand outside the airport terminal. The cost for a taxi from the airport to the conference venue is roughly VND200,000. Please make sure that the taximeter is turned on and remember to ask for a printed receipt from the taxi driver.
Weather
Located in the southeastern part of Viet Nam, on the right bank of the Saigon River, Ho Chi Minh City has a tropical climate. Its location being very close to the sea, the climate of the city steadily varies from warm to hot throughout the year.
There are mainly two seasons in this city. The rainy season starts from May and lasts till late November. The rains become heavy from June to August. However the showers are usually sudden and stay for a brief period. So even during the rainy season the sun reappears fairly quickly. The average rainfall of the city is around 1,800mm.
The temperature goes down a bit from December to April. This particular time period is considered the dry season. The average temperature during the dry season stays around 28 degrees Celsius around noon during late April. However it may drop below 16 degree Celsius during the morning hours in late December. July to November is the time for typhoons.
The average humidity of Ho Chi Minh City is around 80 percent. April is the hottest month of the City. On the other hand, December is the coolest one. However in general the climate of the city is hot and humid.
Currency and Banking
The official name for the currency of Viet Nam is VNĐ. You can exchange money at the airport, banks and hotels. Major credit cards are honored at most hotels. Banks usually open at 08:00 in the morning and close at 16:30 in the afternoon all working days.
Electricity
